Five Days on Provera

Having had problems with my hormones, menstruation, and getting pregnant because of PCOSOB-Gynecologist recommended that I take Provera for five days two weeks ago.

Provera contains medroxyprogesterone–a type of female hormone called progestin. It is similar to the female hormone progesterone that a woman’s body naturally produces. But if the body is not making enough progesterone, Provera is administered.

Uses of Provera
1. For women going through menopause — Provera is used to treat abnormal bleeding from the uterus. It can also reduce menopause symptoms like hot flashes and is added to estrogen replacement therapy in order to reduce the risk of uterine cancer.
2. For women with amenorrhea — Provera may restore the normal menstrual periods who did not have regular periods for several months.

Normal reactions would be for the menstruation to come within 5-7 days after Provera was taken orally. In my case, my period came after 12 days. But the doctor assured me that at least my uterus reacted to Provera and it just letting us know that it is still working.

Now on to fertility treatments
