Fluoride is more than just the element that makes our teeth strong. But it is also present in the water that we drink, artificial drinks, non stick cookware, and in drugs like Prozac (fluoxetine) as well as fluoroquinolone antibiotics. The problem is, too much fluoride can lead to flouride calcification, which could adversely affect the pineal gland.
Functions of the Pineal Gland
The pineal gland may just be small but its main function is to produce melatonin–our natural sleep hormone. Without melatonin, our normal sleep function would be hindered. Additionally, melatonin is also responsible for regulating the start of puberty as well as in fighting for the body against harmful free radicals that attack us on the cellular level.
Health Conditions Related to the Pineal Gland
Now, when the pineal gland is hindered from working properly, the your body is not able to produce the right amounts of melatonin. Because of this situation, you then at risk for the following conditions:
1. Alzheimer’s disease
2. Circadian dysregulation
4. Bipolar disease
5. Hormone imbalances
6. Low back pain
Limit Exposure to Fluoride and Other Toxic Substances
The problem is, fluoride is present in about 70% of U.S. public water supplies. So that means fluoride is present in tap water, cooking water, and in the shower. When you take a hot shower, your pores open up, making them ready to absorb all the toxic substances in the water. This infiltration is much more effective than when we drink water where the digestive system filters the toxins.
Aside from fluoride, chlorine is also present. The problem with chlorine is that, it produces disinfection byproducts or DBPs when it interacts with organic matter in the water. DBPs cause the toxic effects in water. Some of the toxic effects of DBPs are increased risks for asthma, skin irritations, and worse, cancer; respiratory irritation, fatigue, and the weakening of the immune system.
Protect Your Family from Fluoride Calcification
While you can protect your family in the household level, you can also take part in the countrywide battle to remove fluoride from our water. There is an event known as the Fluoride Awareness Week that seeks to increase the awareness of the masses about the toxicity of fluoride. There is also the Fluoride Action Network (FAN) that provides resource for further education on the subject. So join the movement now and protect our families from fluoride calcification and its ill effects like Alzheimer’s disease.
