Foods to Avoid for Hypothyroid

Recommended Foods for Hypothyroid

In the link above, I listed the foods that are good if you have hypothyroid. But of course, there are things that you also need to avoid.

1. Starches. As much as possible, get your carbs or carbohydrates from select fruits and vegetables. Avoid potatoes, corn, and rice.

2. Do not eat raw foods like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale, mustard greens, kale, peaches, pears, spinach, strawberries, millet, and radishes. These foods increases the risk of goiter.

3. Alcohol spikes your blood sugar levels, so it is best to avoid them. It doesn’t matter if you are just a social drinker–you are still consuming alcohol.

This may take some sacrifice on your part but if you are suffering from hypothyroid, your symptoms will be eased if you avoid these foods. These are just simple things that you can do to help your body function normally.

Since I am a candidate for this disease, I need to strictly watch my diet. I love potatoes and raw broccoli, and I eat plenty of rice and corn, I did not know that they could boost the risk of acquiring goiter. I see myself getting thinner as soon as I avoid the food you stated here. :-)

I just can’t see myself giving up the fruits and veggies I love just because I have hypothyroidism. I am 20 years old. I am not going to let this stop me even if I can’t loose weight as a result.
