Omega-6 Rich Food and Heart Matters for Valentines

Hearts

This Valentines or heart month, think of your heart.

You have probably already heard about Omega-3, but do you know what Omega-6 is?

Omega-6 Fatty Acids are actually essential nutrients that our bodies need. These lower the incidence of LDL or what is commonly known as the “bad cholesterol”. In short, Omega-6 helps reduce the inflammation in the body and protects us from heart attacks. This is especially helpful for those with a family history of heart disease.

Foods That Contain Omega-6

1. Nuts and seeds like almonds, pistachios, sesame seeds, peanuts, pecans, hazelnuts, and sunflower seeds. But the highest in Omega-6 content would be walnuts.
2. Unsaturated oils like canola, peanut, sunflower seed, safflower, and vegetable.
3. Soy (e.g. miso, tofu, and tempeh)

So this Valentines, think of our hearts. If we truly love ourselves and our loved ones, then we will take care of their hearts.

Good thing I love nuts, especially almonds and walnuts, although they are expensive! Hehehe! I always forgot that I need to buy canola oil but I always buy vegetable oil.

  2. LOURDES says:

Our family has a history of heart disease that’s why we seldom eat pork. Most of the time we eat fish, vegetables, and fruits.
